Night Vision Lighting: An Overview Though
our eyes do a great job of picking up daytime light that's in the wavelength
range of 400 to 700 nanometers (nm), when the sun falls and those wavelengths
disappear we tend to start bumping into walls. And while it may be romantic,
starlight and moonlight does us little good. Because it has a wavelength
longer than 700nm - this is called infrared light - we can't see.
That's where night vision scopes, goggles and binoculars enter the picture.
They're designed to convert this "invisible" infrared light
into a wavelength that we can see - 530nm.
Not only is this wavelength smack dab in the middle our visible spectrum,
because we perceive 530nm to be green this explains why the world turns
green when you look through night vision equipment.
But what happens when there's no moon and the stars are covered by clouds?
Even a high-end Gen3 scope has difficulty under those conditions.
Solution 1: Long Range Infrared
Spotlights While the infrared illuminator that's built into your scope
is useful for changing a fuse in the basement, when it comes to long-range
covert illumination it's pretty much useless.
This is where powerful night vision spotlights enter the scene. Designed
to generate massive amounts of covert infrared light at greater than
840nm, our line of infrared spotlights deliver an extra punch of invisible
light.
How big a punch? Our 1-Million
Candlepower Infrared Spotlight fires a coherent 5° beam
to a range of 150 yards while the 2-Million
Candlepower Infrared Spotlight has a 225 yard range. Both
will dramatically improve the brightness and resolution of your night
vision view, regardless of the quality of your night vision device.
Solution 2: Xenon
H.I.D. Infrared Spotlights Based on the latest Xenon High Intensity Discharge technology
our Xenon H.I.D. Infrared
Spotlight has been designed to meet the needs of surveillance
professionals that require continuous infrared illumination.
It can be powered from its remote 12V DC Power Pack or from any 12V
DC accessory power outlet. Incredibly rugged, it's completely waterproof
to the point that it floats in water. The unit's shatterproof housing
and shockproof, filament-free xenon light source add up to deliver an
exceptional 2,500-hour mean time between failure rating.
If your application depends on an infrared illuminator that can take
the hits as they come then you would be well served to consider this
unit.
Solution 3: Ultra-Covert Security
Lighting
Perimeter security and large area infrared lighting is addressed by
NightVisionExperts.com's new line of Ultra-Covert
940nm Infrared Illuminators.
Our Ultra-Covert illuminators are particularly well matched to the requirements
of night vision enhanced CCTV security cameras which by their design
require active infrared lighting to perform at their best. By mixing
and matching our full line of ultra-coverts you can effectively "paint"
large swaths any indoor or outdoor surveillance area in infrared light
that is completely invisible to the human eye.
Our ultra-covert lighting systems are easily installed, have very low
power demands and can be quickly called into duty for remote, battery-powered,
ultra-covert surveillance and security applications.
